The Lucifer Project

Does Jupiter finally fulfill the destiny denied it by nature as what some astronomers have termed a "failed star"?

Past Mars there's not enough sunlight to provide the power a spacecraft needs, and so NASA (and other space exploring organizations) use radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTG). These generators convert the heat released by the decay of a plutonium into electricity as power source.

Nasa has deliberately crashing Galileo and Cassini in Jupiter during their final mission in respectively 2003 and 2017. Some people belief that the plutonium from the RTG can create a nuclear chain reaction, turning the failed star Jupiter into a real small star.

According to the theory, this new star brings life to its constellation of Earth-like moons, becoming a solar system within a solar system. After which the people of Earth will have two suns in the sky.

The photo of Jupiter was made with the help of the infrared camera / spectrometer of the Juno space probe. This instrument maps the temperature distribution into the atmosphere of Jupiter. (S.J. Bolton et al., Science (2017)).
